Esporte Brasil Ride to organize stage race in Portugal next May
Registrations are open for a new mountain bike stage race that marks the premiere of off-road specialist Brasil Ride in Europe.
The Brazilian promoter of cycling events has confirmed that ‘Portugal Brasil Ride’ will make its debut in 2022, taking place between May 9-14, in a six-day stage race. This will cross the regions of Pinhão, Alijó, Castro Daire, São Pedro do Sul, Vouzela and Viseu. In all, 350km will be covered, with a total of 8,000m of accumulated ascent.
“Besides the fact that I was born in Portugal, what led us to the country was because it is the gateway to Europe, and for having exquisite food and culture, as well as the climate, unique on the continent,” said Mario Roma, founder of Brasil Ride.
“Given the fact that it is a premium event, registration spots are limited, just like in Bahia (Brazil), offering accommodation and food in four star hotels in the region.”
Portugal Brasil Ride aims to be the largest premium mountain bike stage race in Europe. It follows a 2021 merger between the Portugal MTB event brand and Brasil Ride.
Mario Roma continued, “In addition, Brasil Ride has the status of the best premium stage race in the world, and has also a large client portfolio, including 40,000 customers throughout Brazil and 37 countries.
“Brasil Ride – with more than 10 years in the market – along with its portfolio, brings the expertise in organizing large events.”
Portugal Brasil Ride aims to encourage and boost local commerce and, above all, tourism in the region and in the country… ‘bringing athletes and their families from all over the world.’
The race will cross trails in the central region of the country (Castro Daire, São Pedro do Sul, Vouzela and Viseu) and the Alto Douro wine region (Alijó and Pinhão).
‘All stages are designed to offer athletes an experience inspired by the diversity of landscapes, trails and terrains with the best Portugal has to offer.’
Roma added, “We have opened registrations for Portugal Brasil Ride, an event in which Europe will enjoy the Brasil Ride standard, in a country that wins all the awards for its tourism qualities.
“Add to that the new partners who have arrived to strengthen our team, including two international car brands, which will soon be presented, that is, extra motivation to keep working and believe in better times going forward.”
